TCHMB Neonatal Committee Co-Chair Application 

 

The Texas Collaborative for Healthy Mothers and Babies (TCHMB) is seeking applicants for an open position on the Executive Committee as Co-Chair for the TCHMB Neonatal Committee. The role of the TCHMB Neonatal Committee is to support and advance the overall mission of TCHMB to improve health care quality and patient safety for Texas mothers and babies. This position is also a voting member on the TCHMB Executive Committee.

Committee Overview: The purpose of the Neonatal Committee is to reduce infant mortality and morbidity through partnerships with Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), well-baby units, and infant healthcare practitioners across Texas. The committee leads statewide quality improvement initiatives, promotes evidence-based neonatal care, and supports alignment across NICUs to improve outcomes for newborns. The current TCHMB neonatal-focused quality improvement initiative is Lactation and Safe Sleep Opportunities in Texas (LASSO-TX).

TCHMB Neonatal Committee Co-Chair Suggested Areas of Expertise include:

  • Active participation within their Regional Advisory Council (RAC) and engagement with the RAC/Perinatal Care Region (PCR) Alliance.

  • Experience collaborating across hospitals, health systems, and regional partners to improve maternal and neonatal care.

  • Leadership or participation in neonatal or perinatal quality improvement initiatives.

  • Familiarity with the needs and challenges of hospitals across different levels of neonatal care in Texas.

  • Experience facilitating collaboration, discussion, and shared learning among multidisciplinary stakeholders.

  • Interest in advancing statewide efforts to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. 

Position Term: The term of a Co-Chair is two years, with the opportunity to serve a second two-year term.

Role Expectations and Responsibilities:

  • Active attendance at quarterly TCHMB Executive Committee meetings,

  • Attendance at regularly scheduled Neonatal Committee meetings,

  • Attendance at Neonatal Committee Leadership meetings, the frequency of which is determined by the Co-Chairs,

  • Sharing of TCHMB resources as relevant, and

  • Participating in other TCHMB Executive Committee meetings or events that may occur throughout the year.
